Necmettin Erbakan

Necmettin Erbakan (born the October 29th 1926 with Sinop) is a Turkish Politician , founder and member successively of various Islamic political parties. He was Prime Minister of Turkey of June 1996 at June 1997. He is widowed and father of three children.

In 1970, it founded its first political training, the Milli Nizam Partisi (or MNP , “Left the national order”), member of the Milli Görüş, which was interdict in 1971. In 1973, it founded, in company of the former leaders of the MNP, the Milli Selamet Partisi (or MSP , “Left the public welfare”); it is under the colors of this formation that Erbakan was assistant of the Prime Minister at the time of three coalitions different of 1974 with 1978.

Following the military coup d'etat of the September 12th 1980 it was stopped and was seen meaning in 1982 a prohibition to carry on political activities during ten years. This prohibition was raised in 1987 following a referendum. The same year, Erbakan was elected president of the Refah Partisi (or RP , “Left prosperity”), under the colors of which he was Prime Minister between 1996 and 1997.

June 30th 1997, it resigned under the pressure of the soldiers; RP was then prohibited and Erbakan was seen meaning a new prohibition of its political activity for five years.

Necmettin Erbakan is currently member of the Saadet Partisi (or SP , “Left happiness”).
