Neauphle-the-Castle

Neauphle-the-Castle is a common department of the Yvelines, in the area Île-de-France, in France, located at 21 km in the west of Versailles.

The inhabitants are the Neauphléens .

Geography

Built on a rock hillock, Neauphle-the-Castle dominates, towards the west, the Plaine of Montfort-l' Amaury towards Houdan and is located at the western end of the Plaine of Versailles.

The commune, one of smallest of France in surface, is bordering on Saint-Germain-of-the-Barn in north, of Plaisir in the east, Jouars-Pontchartrain in the south, and of Villiers-Saint-Frederic in the west.

The access to Neauphle since the Trunk road 12 is made by the secondary road 134 called which occurred of the Republic leading to the place Mancest . An important local circulation is carried out by the secondary road 11 (Saint-Cyr-the School - Septeuil) which crosses the city according to a East-West axis while passing by the aforementioned place Mancest , with Plaisir in the east and Villiers-Saint-Frederic and its important crossroads of Pontel in the west. With the crossroads known as of the Three Communes, halfway of the descent towards the Pontel , begins the secondary road 15 known as road of Chevreuse which leads to Jouars-Pontchartrain to the hamlet of the Mousseaux .

In the railway plan, the station nearest is the Gare of Villiers - Neauphle - Pontchartrain located on the communal territory of Villiers-Saint-Frederic at approximately a kilometer at the north of the crossroads of Pontel . The line the SNCF which master key is there the line NR of the Transilien between Paris-Montparnasse and Houdan.

History

The name of “Neauphle” comes from a Gallic word meaning the new temple.
