Nax is a common Suisse of the Canton of Were worth, located in the District of Hérens. It is also called the Balcony of the Sky because of his exceptional panorama.

" The existence of the commune of Nax is established at the XII century thanks to a document of 1298 of the communal records. The charter gives a report on a litigation between the communes of Bramois and Nax about the forest under the rocks of Nax.

The first mention of representatives in the businesses of the commune goes back to 1304. It acts prosecutors who act in the name of the commune. This act is also the first which confirms that the middle-class widens its properties. It buys a rye income into 1.311, in 1490 a mayen to increase the mountain of Gauthier, in 1640 it buys a vine with Lens, in 1647 another in St-Léonard and in Lens, in 1648 it buys a share of press, then again a vine with Lens in 1651, a second share of press in 1660. It acquires also the office of the majorie of Nax-Vernamiège in 1652. The major was the representative of the justice." (source: , April 2002/Pierre Schmid)
