Navibus

Navibus is the name of the service given since 2005 to the four river shuttles of the network of Public transport of the agglomeration of Nantes, exploited by the Semitan:

  • a permanent unit operates on the the Loire: the Chantenay and another in reinforcement: the Trentemoult .

  • the two others operate on its affluent, the Erdre: the Gull and the Jules Verne

This service gives to the last style the crossings of the Loire carried out between 1887 and 1958 by a flotilla of eight steamers called Roquio S.

Since June 1st, 2007, the Navibus the Loire serves the island of Nantes with a stop located near the yellow goliath crane. This new station, planned for the time of a summer, will become perhaps final.

Navibus of the Loire

In 2003, Nantes Métropole decides to replace the water way in the context of urban displacements. One year more trad, at the time of the Week of Mobility , the installation of an inland waterway on the Loire is programmed for next spring, in order to ensure an additional crossing of the Loire. June 17th, 2005, 47 years after the end of the connections of the Roquio, enters in exploitation the first river shuttle Navibus.

The reopening of the service required the handing-over to the standards of accessibility and safety of the device of wharf quay Marcel Boissard in Trentemoult, and the construction of the pontoon from the Martime Station in Nantes. The Loire

Navibus of the Loire are two: the Chantenay , powerful fast patrol boat and the Trentemoult , in reinforcement during the rush hours. Frontier runner

During Estuary 2007, from June 2nd to September 1st, Navibus Passeur of the Loire connects the landing stage of the island of Nantes to the station-maritime pontoon.

Navibus Passeur the Mouette is a small catamaran sailing with theelectric one. It crosses the Erdre in 2 minutes to connect the Petit Port - Faculties to the Port Boyer .

Navibus Jules Verne is pretty a monoshell which sails along the river in 45 minutes to connect the Jonelière to the Southern SNCF railway station while passing by: Ceineray , Saint-Mihiel , Tortière , Small Port - Faculties . Frequency: every 1:45 mn.

This service being still exploited on an experimental basis, it is ensured for the moment only by one ship: Jules-Verne . In the case of a positive test of the evualuation, other boats should normally come to supplement the device. The Jules Verne was built by building site SNCM of Saint-Nazaire and was chartered by Nantes the Bateaux company. He is been driven by hybrid engines alternating between electric propulsion (to limit the rejections of smoke under the tunnel Saint Felix) and diesel propulsion.

Correspondence: This line ace ceased of not evolved/moved, going at the beginning until Jonelière it was shortened in September 2006 until Saint-Mihiel of the Monday to Friday not stopping in Ceineray.
