Naval hydrodynamics

Introduction

The naval hydrodynamic can be defined as a branch of the Mécanique fluids devoted to the studies of the flows, movements and efforts related to water. Historically, it began with the scientific study from resistance to advance from a hull from ship, to build model predictive (Froude).

The naval hydrodynamics experienced a strong development during the 20th century because of:

  • projections of the methods of measurement;
  • the development of the means of calculation.
