Nauvay

Nauvay is a common French, located in the department of the the Sarthe and the area Pays of the Loire.

Its inhabitants does not have a name.

History

Origin of the name
  • Not some, according to certain authors, navetum , " noue" , " meadow humide" , or nova via , " nouvelle" sees;. One wrote also Novai.

History

The ground of the territory conceals the scattered traces of an ancient occupation.

But first mention of " Noveium" go back to 1226. The old strengthened place of " Grattesac" , after having belonged to the Abbey of the Seam, figure in the cartulaire of the abbey Saint-Vincent-of-Mans the worms 1050.

The parish, joined together under the old Mode for the civilian with Peray, functions since the 19th century in free partnership with Avesnes. It does not have a church. The Saint-Matthieu vault of the Castle, which is the remainder of a more important building, was decreased and altered at the 20th century.
