Nautical oar Union of Lyon

The Nautical Aviron Union of Lyon is a sports association Lyons practitioner the Aviron. It is one of the best French clubs: in 2005 it was first of the male classification in France.

History

The club is founded in 1880 under the name of the Nautical Union of Lyon . He is his first successes with two victories in championship of France in 1893 and 1896 (category 8 senior) and one in championship of Europe (8 senior). The end of the XIXe century is one period favorable for the club, which declines then until the end of the Second world war. From the end of this conflict the Nautical Union of Lyon enters a phase acendante and gains several national titles. From 1975 the club is modernized and changed name to become the Nautical Oar Union of Lyon. In 1994 one of its members becomes world champion into 4 senior, then in 2000 Jean-Christophe Roland gains the Olympic title.
