Natural reserve of nesting of the fawn-coloured vultures

The natural reserve of nesting of the fawn-coloured vultures was created by ministerial decree of December 11th, 1974. The museum which is associated for him, called the cliff with the vultures , is at the entry of the village of Aste-Béon.

The reserve is managed by the National park of the Pyrenees. It includes/understands two sites on an total surface area of 82,3 ha, a cliff to 1.000 m of altitude. It was created to support the reproduction of the fawn-coloured vultures, those needing an abundant food and a perfect peace. The reserve also accommodates 5 or 6 couples of percnoptères of Egypt.
