Nationwide Arena
The Nationwide Arena is a general sports room located at Columbus in the state of the Ohio.
Since its opening in 2000, it is the residence of the Blue Jackets de Columbus, a frankness in the National league from hockey, which were joined the season 2004 with the Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League. It was also the playing field of the Columbus Landsharks of NLL of 2001 with 2003. In 2006, it started to accommodate the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets, a junior team of Hockey of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Its capacity is of 18.136 places for the Hockey, 17.171 for the American football in room, and 19.500 for the Basket-ball. The room has 78 continuations of luxury and 3.200 seats of club
History
The Nationwide Arena was inaugurated the September 9th 2000 to the 200 West Nationwide Boulevard with Columbus. Its originators are the Heinlein firms + Schrock, Inc. (today 360 Architecture) and NBBJ. Its cost of construction was of $150 million USD.The building is called like the firm owner of the arena, Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, whose head office is localized with Columbus. The arena is used as center of a zone of entertainment located at approximately 800 meters at the north of Capitole of state of the Ohio.
In 2002, the death of Brittanie Cecil (13 years) following the atterissage of a metal disc of hockey in the platforms at the time of a match of the Blue Jackets de Columbus, led to the installation of nylon nets to catch the metal disc which fly above acrylic glass to all the professional arenas of Hockey in NHL, AHL, and ECHL.
The first event in the room was a concert of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill for the " Drunk person to Soul" Turn, the September 9th and 10th 2000. The first sports event was a match of Hockey opposing the Blue Jackets de Columbus to the Red Wings de Détroit, the September 20th 2000.
