National university of Colombia

the National university of Colombia , (in Spanish: Universidad Nacional de Colombia ) is the largest university and most important of the Republic of Colombia. She proposes theoretical studies in all the fields of knowledge and is with the head the university formation in the country.

Characteristics

The U.N is the principal university of Colombia. She proposes 98 training programs in various fields of knowledge, like the Médecine, the Dentisterie, the Chimie, the Pharmacie, the Mathématiques, the Physique, the Géologie, the Biologie, the social sciences, agronomic arts (music, fine arts), sciences, the Philosophie and the Droit; 88 specializations, 118 Masters, 40 specialities, 30 doctorates which count now close to the 43.341 students, including 39.382 in first and second cycle and 3.959 in third cycle.

The principal campus is located in the town of Bogotà and forms a whole with its antennas of Medellín, Manizales, Palmira, Leticia, Arauca, San Andrés. It projects to become an institution of real research. The university is already, from the point of view of the size and the geographical range, the principal education institution of Colombia.

It is in this university that is realized nearly 90% of the scientific research undertaken in the country, but as for the other Colombian universities, this research is well in lower part of the real needs of the country.

The U.N is a center where not only various currents of thought meet, but also of the urban expressions which accentuate the character of its representativeness of the Colombian nation.
