National union of the workers of Mali

The National union of the workers of Mali (UNTM) is the trade-union organization the most important Malian. She was created in 1963 at the time of the constitutive congress with Bamako from July 24th to 28th.

Its mandate and its objectives of which:

  • To defend the material and moral interests of its members;
  • To take care of the correct application of the social laws, international conventions and recommendations;
  • To reinforce the unit, solidarity enters the workers and to safeguard peace on all the levels;
  • To carry out the formation on the plans trade-union, professional, political and economic of all its associates;
  • To raise the conscientiousness and the direction of the responsibility for the workers;
  • To promote and guarantee the principles and the basic rights of work;
  • To create greater opportunities for the women and the men to find uses of quality;
  • To reinforce the three-party government and the social dialog;
  • To set up trade-union structures functional, able to offer social services to the militants, within the framework of the activities not negotiating such as the co-operatives, the mutual insurance companies, the nurseries of children, the groupings of economic interests, etc;
  • To incite the governments to put in work, collaboration with the trade-union organizations, of the development programs in the field of education, health and the social security.

Its General secretary is Siaka Diakité.
