National union of the phonographic edition

The National union of the phonographic edition (shortened in SNEP ) is an interprofessional association which defends the interests of French industry of the disc. The SNEP was created in 1922. In 2004, it gathers 48 members.

In fact the SNEP ensures certification money, gold, platinum or diamond of the Simple S, album S and musical Clip S in France.

The SNEP is also responsible for the development of the classifications of the best record sales in France:

  • classification of the 100 best simple sales
  • classification of the 150 best sales of albums innovations sold with full price
  • classification of the 40 best sales of compilations innovations sold with full price
  • classification of the 40 best sales of long formats (albums and compilations) sold at reduced price
