National union of the cable cars of France

the National union of the cable cars of France or SNTF is the employers' federation of the owners of ski lift and skiables fields in France.

History

The SNTF was created in 1938 with the objective to allow to the owners some Téléphérique S who then existed to communicate between-them and thus to exchange ideas concerning their companies. These exchanges also made it possible to find solutions vis-a-vis the engineering problems and administrative raised by this means of still new transport. The trade union developed as the apparatuses of ski lifts (Téléski S, Télésiège S and Télécabine S) appeared in the landscape.

It counts today more than 356 members (236 companies of exploitation and 120 companies " partners " (manufacturers, suppliers, training centres…)).

Activities

The SNTF ensures the representation of the profession in many authorities. It also ensures the realization of studies and the communication between the members.

Its competences are divided into 5 commissions:

  • Social, Technical training
  • Tracks and environment
  • Economy and promotion
  • Legal and tax

These commissions act, inter alia, on the revisions of the collective agreement and the evolution of the industrial legislation, the development of the safety regulations, the publication of the official texts specific to the branch of industry, the policy of installation of the mountain, professional training…

Concerning the formation, the SNTF developed a system professional certificates for a better competence of the personnel at various levels or stations:

    • Conducting of Conducting Ski-lift
    • of téléporté with fixed grips
    • Conducting of téléporté with disengageable grips
    • Conducting of Funicular Cable car or
  • service of the tracks :
    • Conducting of appliance ramming
    • Nivoculteur

The owners of members field of the SNTF lay out, since end 2004 of a instrument panel of their activity. After having entered their own results concerning their activity, they can then consult the results of the sector for the past periods (vancances of Christmas, January, winter vacation, March and holidays of Easter). This tool also enables them to consult the results from one season to another or a station with the other.
