National union high-school girl
The purpose of the National union high-school girl ( UNL ) is a organization high-school girl with trade-union goal created in 1994 and is to defend and represent the high-school pupils. She approaches many fields like the development of the Démocratie high-school girl, the defense of the rights high-school pupils, or the questions of prevention-health or company (discriminations, situation of the high-school pupils without-papers, etc).
The UNL asserts its presence in nearly 80 French departments, DOM included/understood. At the European level it is member of the Organizing Bureau off European School Student Unions (OBESSU) and there represents France.
History of the UNL
Beginnings
The UNL is founded during 1994 at the time of the mobilizations high-school girls and coeds against the Contract of professional insertion (CIP), with, inter alia, the participation of high-school pupils of the Mouvement socialist young people (MJS). The exact date of the creation of the UNL is not easily findable, but it appears for the first time in the press during the consultations between the government and the youth organizations. The congress founder of the UNL takes place only December 20th and 21st 1997.

The main movements in which the UNL took part

Some personalities passed by the UNL

Organization
Structuring
Since its creation in 1994 starting from collectives local high-school pupils, the UNL is structured like a union of departmental federations. Each federation, called UNLxx (with xx number of the department), has its own inner working and gathers the local committees UNL of its department. The local committee is the basic militant structure of the organization. It gathers all the militants of the same school, although sometimes organized in committee of city for a better synergy between close establishments. Representativeness

The UNL is present in all the democratic authorities high-school girls, of the Conseil of the life high-school girl (CVL) to the Superior council of education (CSE), while passing by the academic Conseil of the life high-school girl (CAVL) and the National council of the life high-school girl (CNVL).
The UNL holds two of the three stations reserved for the representatives high-school pupils at the Superior council of Education (CSE). The UNL holds the majority of the seats of this authority since 2003.

Elections with the CSE - March 2007
With the elections of the representatives high-school pupils to the Superior council of education (CSE) of March 2007, the UNL obtains 2 elected officials, and loses a seat compared to the 2 mandates precedent.
