National theater of Belgium

The National theater of Belgium (in summary TNB ) is a founded theatrical institution with Brussels in 1945 by Jacques Huisman.

The National theater of Belgium is born the September 19th 1945 by decree from the prince regent Régent. Among the missions which are entrusted to him: “to contribute to the diffusion of the culture among the population of French language of the country, to spread the taste of the theater of quality, to make known in Belgium and abroad the Belgian theater (authors, directors, actors, decorators etc) and to raise the social condition and professional of the actors”. This last mission is confirmed in 1958, when the National theater becomes “establishment of public utility”.

In 1961, the National theater of Belgium settles in the Rogier Center, between the Place Rogier and the station of North, in a space especially built for him. The Rogier Center being dedicated with the demolition in 1999, the TNB moves in temporarily with the Palace, before investing a building lately built with the boulevard Emile Jacqmain and inaugurated the November 16th 2004.

The new National theater of the French Communauté comprises in particular a big room of 750 places, a small room of 250 places, a vast hearth on four stages with two bars, a room of repetition, etc
