National school of the statistics and the economic administration
The National school of the statistics and the economic administration (ENSAE) is a French University specialized in the economy, the Statistique and the Finance. It is member of ParisTech.
History
The ENSAE was created in 1942 within the framework of the National service of the statistics (ancestor of the National institute of the statistics and the economic studies (INSEE) under the name of school of application of the statistics. In 1946, with the creation of INSEE, the school takes the name of school of application of INSEE. The school opened on two types of career: administrator and attache. The first promotions included/understood five or six pupils administrators and five or six attached pupils.The decree of the November 2nd 1960 changes the name of the school into National school of the statistics and the economic administration. Promotions become more important, and the formation opens to the former students Faculty of Law and economic scenes. The decree of the April 15th 1971 clarifies the position of the school in the academic field, by clearly characterizing it like a University. The school moves in its current buildings, with Malakoff in the Hauts-de-Seine, in 1975.
In the years 1980, a system of purse is set up to support the doctoral studies. A research laboratory, CREST (Research center in economy and statistics), is created in 1988.
In 1994, the Division of the executives of statistical management and attaches, who trained the attaches of INSEE, becomes a school with whole share, the National school of the statistics and analysis of information (ENSAI, relocated with Rennes).
Mission
Integrated into the National institute of the statistics and the economic studies (INSEE) under the supervision of the Ministry for the Economy, Finances and Employment, the ENSAE ensures the training of statistician-economists, not civils servant, like civils servant belonging to the body of the administrators of INSEE.The trained economists and statisticens have vocation to contribute to the economic Recherche French; former students occupy of the stations within the international agencies (UNO, the IMF, the World Bank, European commission,…) and French (Ministry for the economy, INSEE, CREST,…).
It accommodates pupils of various sources:

former students of the Preparatory classes at the universities (coming from classes of special mathematics MP/MP*, but also of commercial CPGE (" HEC math") and Letters and social sciences (Khâgne BL))
allowed - on titles (normaliens, polytechnicians or students of others Universities, holders of controls).
The school is entitled since 2006 to deliver the title of engineer by the Commission of the Titles of Engineer. It delivers it however only with the pupils coming from the classes of higher and special mathematics.
Associated formations
Within the framework of the partnerships organized by the ENSAE with other schools, a great number of student carry out their third year in foreign universities in financial mathematics, economy and finance: Harvard, Columbia, Humboldt University of Berlin, etcThe ENSAE also signed a convention with Sciences Po Paris, which makes it possible to the pupils of the ENSAE to parallel to carry out their course with the ENSAE one of the masters of Sciences Po. Within the framework of this convention they are exempted written part of the entrance examination in master.
The ENSAE is member of ParisTech (association of universities of engineers de Paris gathering all the fields of competence: X, AgroParisTech, ENGREF, Bridges, ESPCI, Mines, ENSTA, ENSAM, Telecom Paris, Chemistry Paris).
Community life
Community life of the ENSAE is organized around the Office of the pupils. Association Forum ENSAE has the role of developing the relations with the companies and of helping the pupils in their orientation: it organizes conferences, presentations of companies as well as Forum TRIUM (with the Mines of Paris, the Highways Departments and the ENSTA). The pupils of the ENSAE take part in the Association Springboard in favor of the social opening of the universities.Junior-company
ENSAE Junior Studies ( EJE ) is the Junior-Company of the school. She proposes in particular with the companies services in the field of the Statistique, of the Actuariat, the Finance and the econometrics.ENSAE Junior Studies was rewarded in 1996 by the outstanding commendation award decreed by CNJE and the newspaper the Echoes.
The first employment
The graduates of the ENSAE obtain for the majority of the stations of financial engineer, Actuaire or in charge of economic studies. A part of them is directed towards the council (economy, strategy, technology, finance) or seeks it.Approximately 30 % of the first paid ones work abroad, in particular with London and New York. They are employed by the large French financial groups and Anglo-Saxons for their technical expertise in financial Mathématiques, economy and Statistiques.
