National school of the civil aviation
The National school of the civil aviation (often shortened ENAC ) is a French University located at Toulouse (Haute-Garonne). It constitutes also a public corporation related to administration under supervision of the Head office of the civil aviation depend on the Ministère of Ecology, the Development and Installation durable. It forms executives (engineers, pilots, air-traffic controllers, technicians, agents of exploitation, etc) of the Civil aviation.
Founded in 1948 with Orly, the school moved with Toulouse in 1968 and is located today on the scientific complex of Rangueil. Part of its buildings is in the middle of the pole of competitiveness Aerospace Valley (Aerospace Campus).
History
The ENAC was created in 1948 with Paris on the initiative of max Hymans. It was initially located on the site of Orly at the south of Paris, for then settling with Toulouse in 1968.
Initial trainings
The ENAC proposes seven different initial trainings which are addressed directly to pupils resulting from the school or university course:- engineer ENAC (IENAC);
- engineer of the control of the aerial navigation (ICNA);
- civil engineer/civil aviation (IPC/AC);
- raises airline pilot (EPL);
- electronics engineer of the systems of air security (IESSA);
- high-level technicien of the studies and the exploitation of the civil aviation (TSEEAC);
- agent of exploitation (AE).
Dies of engineer ENAC
The training of engineer ENAC is accessible by contest to level BAC+2 (Spé Maths; 110 places suggested) and BAC+3 (4 to 5 places for the allowed ones on titles of the university). There exist three dies:

IENAC/S : data processing and air traffic;
- IENAC/L: electronics;
- IENAC/T: aeronautical techniques.
Pupils - engineers ENAC are civil, are civils servant (the choice is carried out at the time of the contest). The latter constitute 15% of a promotion and integrate automatically into the exit DGAC. Pupils - engineers ENAC civils servant are remunerated during their studies, annual rough remuneration is of:

1st year: 16.800 Euros;
- 2nd year: 30.000 Euros;
- 3rd year: 32.400 Euros.
The die engineer of the control of the aerial navigation
To ensure the safety and traffic circulation air: such is the mission of the engineer of control. A capital stake which requires of him a decision and analytical mind very sharpened. Importance of the traffic, conditions weather, flight plans of the planes…: the engineer of control simultaneously manages all this information by ensuring the follow-up of each plane.
Formation ICNA is accessible on contest to the level Bac+2 (Spé Maths). 200 places are proposed. The studies last 3 years at the conclusion which the graduate integrates DGAC.
During their schooling, pupils ICNA perceive an annual rough remuneration of:
1st year: 16.680 euros; 2nd year: 22.215 euros; 3rd year: 25.575 euros.
The die civil engineer/civil aviation
Since 1948 the ENAC, school of application of the Polytechnic school, occupies a choice place for the formation of Engineer S intended for the sector Aéronautique. Between 3 and 8 pupils integrate this die each year.
This high level formation, leading to functions of important framing and direction, is mainly intended for engineers civils servant integrating then the head office of the civil aviation (DGAC) and belonging to the body of the engineers of the civil aviation. It was concretized a long time by a formation suitable for the ENAC sanctioned by the diploma for the occupation of engineer of the civil aviation, course which, in addition to civils servant, accommodated civil candidates (left Polytechnic).
Since 2002 (cf decree 2003-523 of April 16th, 2002), bodies of engineer of the ministry for the Equipment (of which that of the engineers of the civil aviation) amalgamated in a single body: civil engineers.
The mode of recruitment remained identical with flows which increased considerably (approximately 40 per annum). The formation for its part changed considerably since it includes/understands (for the civils servant): lesson with the National school of the Highways Departments of which a part (nearly 300 hours) Co-are organized by the ENAC, of the seminars organized in Toulouse and the possibilities of a specialization civil aviation in various forms (formation with piloting, training courses in companies of the sector civil aviation, course specialized with the ENAC…)
The die raises airline pilot
The formation raises airline pilot (EPL) is accessible by three contests (between 40 and 60 places per annum in all):

EPL/S: candidates of Sup Maths, BTS, HAD, DEUG… no aeronautical experiment is not necessary.
- EPL/U: titular candidates of scientific Bac+2 and theoretical ATPL.
- EPL/P: titular candidates of the Baccalaureat as well as theoretical patent of airline pilot (theoretical ATPL) and license of professional pilot plane (CPL/A).
The formation lasts 18 months: the ENAC ensures the formal training of the pupils for 6 months, and the hands-on training, which lasts 1 year, is ensured by the Operations department of the Aeronautical Formation (SEFA) in one of its centers (in Montpellier, Carcassonne or Saint-Yan).
At the conclusion of the formation, the pupils can postulate at a post of Officer Airline pilot for the French and foreign airline companies.
The die electronics engineer of the systems of the air security
The mission of the electronics engineer of the systems of the air security is to ensure the installation, the maintenance and the development of the equipment which takes part in the safety of air transport: radars, landers automatic, computing systems, etc
Pupils IESSA trained by the ENAC intend themselves to work within the head office of the civil aviation (DGAC).
During their schooling, pupils IESSA perceive an annual rough remuneration of:
- 1st year: 16.680 euros;
- 2nd year: 22.215 euros;
- 3rd year: 25.575 euros.
Two access roads to this formation are proposed:
- first contest: titular candidates of Bac+2 (HAD, BTS, DEUG…) scientist or pupils of Spé Maths.
- second contest: titular candidates of Bac+3 (License) scientific or technical.
These two contests comprise obligatory tests of electronics.

The die high-level technicien of the studies and the exploitation of the civil aviation
The trade of high-level technicien of the studies and the exploitation of the civil aviation makes it possible to carry out a rich career of responsibilities various, all located in the middle of the aeronautical activities.
The TSEEAC can as well be a controller of aerodrome, in charge of maintenance with the electrotechnical and electronic installations, assistant of engineer, responsible fire protection rescue, programmer data processing specialist, foreman of maintenance of aircraft…
All these functions are exerted within the head office of the civil aviation (DGAC) or Weather France.
The studies last 2 years during which the pupils are remunerated (rough annual salary: 15.430 Euros the 1st year, 18.195 Euros the 2nd year).
The contest is accessible to the holders from a scientific baccalaureat. 70 places are proposed per annum.
The die agent of exploitation

The formation of agent of exploitation ENAC is accessible either on contest after a scientific baccalaureat or on file for those having experience in the Air transport.

The studies last 7 months. The cost of the schooling, with the load of the pupil, is of 4445 euros to the title of the academic year 2006/2007.
Specialized diplomas
ENAC proposes seven high level formations sanctioned by obtaining a Mastère specialized or a professional Master, whose recruitment is done on file, in the following fields:

ms aeronautical exploitation and management of the air traffic;
- ms airport management;
- ms management of air transport (in partnership with ESC Toulouse);
- ms Satellite-based Communication, Navigation and Monitoring;
- ms Aviation Safety Aircraft Airworthiness (in partnership with ISAE);
- ms Co-operative Avionics;
- professional Master man-machine interaction (in partnership with the University Toulouse 1).
Continuing education
The activities of continuing education ENAC naturally developed in the fields where ENAC knew to acquire and make recognize particular competences: air traffic, electronic, data-processing, technical aeronautics. In all, these are 242 training courses which are proposed as well for the French companies and organizations and foreigners as for the personnel of the Head office of the civil aviation.
Practical informations

There are seven research teams with the ENAC:
- the laboratory of automatic and operations research (LARA);
- the laboratory of economy and econometrics of air (LEEA);
- the laboratory of study and optimization of architectures of telecommunication networks (LEOPART);
- the laboratory " data processing and interaction" (LII);
- the laboratory of mathematics applied (LMA);
- the laboratory of total optimization (LOG);
- the research unit and of expertise on the communication systems, navigation, monitoring (URE-CNS).
The ENAC also has a team working on the Drone S, of international notoriety. This team created a free project named Paparazzi of construction of drones.
The infrastructures also comprise a Planétarium and a Simulateur of air control (most modern of Europe).
To finish, ENAC is founding member of European Academy For Aviation Safety (EAFAS), network of the principal training companies in the field of the safety of air transport.
