National school of the agricultural engineering, water and the forests
The National school of the agricultural engineering, water and the forests (ENGREF) form in France the forest engineers (FIF) and higher technical experts (engineers of the GREF) of its ministry in charge: the ministry for Agriculture. The sites of teaching and research are localized with Paris, Nancy, Montpellier, Clermont-Ferrand and Kourou. the ENGREF belongs to the Institut of sciences and industries of living and the environment (Agro Paris Tech)
History
The National school of the agricultural engineering, water and the forests is an establishment born in 1965 of the fusion of two older schools:
- the National school of National Forestry Commission, created in Nancy in 1824
- the National school of the agricultural engineering, founded in Paris in 1919.
Since 1990, it gives the Training of Engineers Forestiers (FIF), formerly under the responsibility of the National school of the Engineers of work of Water and the Forests.
Distinct public corporation until 2006, the ENGREF now forms part of the Institut of sciences and industries of living and the environment (Agro Paris Tech). It has to with it however an important autonomy which results in particular in a distinct council charged to examine the questions suitable for the ENGREF. Its director is assistant of that of AgroParisTech.
