National park of the islands of the Madeleine
The National park of the islands of the Madeleine (PNIM) is one of the six national parks of the Senegal.
It is located in the archipelago of the islands of the Madeleine, to approximately 4 km with broad of Dakar.
History
Ornithological reserve since 1949, recognized officially by law 64-46 of June 17th, 1964, this protected space obtained the statute of National park on January 16th 1976 by the decree n° 76-0033.Its candidature for an inscription on the Liste of the world heritage was subjected to UNESCO on November 18th 2005.
Geography
Its surface is of 45 hectares.They are uninhabited volcanic small islands with abrupt cliffs with steppe cover and seamen circle.
Fauna and Flora
Presence all the same of some reptiles: African grass snake, Lizard of which some Gecko SMarine animal-life made up of species Démersale S: Epinephelus , fish Barracuda, Tuna
Among the many species of birds which one can observe in the park:
- let us announce in particular the corbel black and white ( Corvus albus ), the black Milan ( Milvus migrans ), the Grand cormorant ( Phalacrocorax carbo ), the very rare Phaéton with red nozzle (Phaeton aethereus mesonauta) , the crested Cochevis ( Galerida cristata ), the euplecte.
- migratory birds such as the Peregrine falcon ( Falco peregrinus ), the Osprey ( Pandion haliaetus ), the insane ( Sula ) or the Tern ( Sterna ).
The single shapes of vegetation such as the steppe with Andropogon gayanus , Brachiaria distichophylla and Bothriochloa intermedia are present there. As well as Euphorbiacée S Jatropha curcas and dwarf settlements of baobab trees.
