The national park of the Mount-Mégantic , of a surface of 54,86 km ², is located at the east of Sherbrooke, close to Our-Lady-of-Wood in the area of the Estrie. This park was creates in 1994 and is adjacent with the ecological Réserve Samuel-Brisson which is located at the North-East of this one.
The top of the Mont Mégantic includes/understands the astronomical observatory most important of the east of the Canada.
The park is managed by the Québécois government through the Société of the establishments of outdoor of Quebec (SÉPAQ).
Characteristics of the park
The relief of the park is characteristic of this area of the the Appalachian Mountains, the frontier mountains, although the solid mass is in fact Eastern of the montérégiennes.
