National park of the Language of Cruelty

The National park of the Language of Cruelty (PNLB) is one of the six national parks of the Senegal.

It is located at a score of kilometers in the south of Saint-Louis of Senegal towards the mouth of the Fleuve Senegal.

Geography

It is an ornithological reserve of 2000 hectares which is stretched on 15 km length with a width of almost 1 km between the Fleuve Senegal and the sea.

The exposed part with the sea makes up of Dune S fixed by Filao S. Towards the beach, a zone of sand is used as laying for the marine tortoises. There exists a relictuelle Mangrove with Avicennia at certain places.

Fauna and Flora

Various species of birds:
  • nicheuses populations of colonial birds
  • many water birds: pink flamingos, pelicans, cormorants, will hérons
  • species of the kinds Sterna, Larus, Egretta
  • wintering species: Pelecanus, Ardea cinerea, Larus
  • marine tortoises
Concerning the flora:
  • on the dry land: Prosopis juliflora .
  • on the grounds Halomorphic S: Ipomea, Sesuvium.
