The National park of Nairobi , distant of 24 km Nairobi, is the smallest national park of Kenya. It was founded in 1948 and covers a surface of 114 km ². It is closed on 3 sides, the southern part of the park is left “open” to voluntarily allow the migration of the animals like the Zèbre S and the gnou S. One finds there all the fauna of Africa except for the elephant. It is undoubtedly the best place (with the national park of Nakuru) to observe the black Rhinocéros. The tracks are in excellent state and the park is open all the year. At the Eastern end of the park, a small path makes it possible to revive the legs and to observe hippopotamuses, birds, tortoises, monitors in a curve of the Athi river. This park is an excellent introduction to the fauna and the flora of Kenya. The train of Mombasa to Nairobi crosses the plains of Athi of the National park, right before the arrival in Nairobi in the small hour. It makes it possible to see animals gambader in savanna. For the opposite way, the train leaves Nairobi in the evening what is less favorable.
