National park Braulio Carrillo

The National park Braulio Carrillo is the name given to the one of the national parks of the Costa Rica in homage to old the President of the Costa Rica, Braulio Carrillo Colina.

The natural park Braulio Carrillo presents strongest Biodiversité to the world. It is not classified among the reserves of biosphere.

Located at 20 km of San Jose, it extends on: 45899 ha.

Being under the Tropics and receiving: 4500 mm of rain each year, this ecosystem allowed the development of a exceptionally rich Jungle of altitude where one also finds hundreds of cascades and even an extinct volcano.

The botanists estimate that the Braulio park shelters: 6000 Species of plants of which more: 1200 species of Orchidée S. One finds there at least 135 species of Mammifère S among which the monkey Nasique (long nose), the Capucin and the Singe hurlor. He shelters the Serpent the S most dangerous, of the Crocodile S and the thousands of Grenouille S with the colors chatoyantes whose Agalychnis callidryas celebrates it or splashes arboricolous to the red eyes. It is a privileged place where one can observe the Guatusa (Indian rabbit), the paca (tepezcuinte), the Tapir, the Paresseux, the Coyote, the Ocelot, the Puma, the Jaguar, the Ours… On the 875 species of birds passing through Costa Rica, 515 species resident in this park, among which the Toucan, the Ara, the Trogon, the Paon pavor, the Oiseau umbrella, the decorated Aigle and legendary the green Perroquet , the Quetzal. It is a place still partially unexplored.

Unfortunately, it shelters despite everything the species threatened of extinction.
