National orchestra of jazz

The National orchestra of jazz (or O.N.J.) is an orchestra of Jazz French created in 1986 by Jack Lang, then Minister for the Culture.

Placed under the direction of a leader (generally named for two to three years), this formation subsidized by the State has means thus enabling him to carry out, diffuse and present its creations throughout the world.

Creations of the O.N.J are recognized to be of great quality.

The last grinding, placed under the direction it vibraphonist Franck To twist, even obtained a beautiful commercial recognition in 2006 with the exit of an album homage to Led Zeppelin (Closed to heaven).

The first leader of the O.N.J was François Jeanneau. The last, Franck To twist, should remain in place at least until 2008.
