National opera of Lorraine
The national opera of Lorraine is a opera located at Nancy. It has the statute of national opera since 2006, and was called previously the opera of Nancy and Lorraine .
The current building made following the theater of the Comedy, built under the reign of Stanislas Leszczyński in 1758. This building, located behind current the Musée of the Art schools of Nancy burned in the night from October 4th to 5th 1906. A new opera, with Italian, was built Place Stanislas by Joseph Hornecker of matter contiguous to old évêché (become state-owned property in 1909) and inaugurated in 1919.
Although artist of the school of Nancy, Joseph Hornecker creates an opera in the respect of the traditional style , only the “Eastern living room” shows the characteristics of the Art nouveau.
The opera is restored in 1994. Lyric works are accompanied by the Symphony orchestra and lyric by Nancy.
