National institute of the statistics (Tunisia)
The National institute of the statistics (INS) is a public corporation Tunisia N depend on the ministry for the development and international cooperation. Created in 1969, it is in charge with the production and the analysis of the official Statistiques in Tunisia.
Missions
Among its missions, the INS:- organizes and exploits the Recensement S of the Population, the social surveys, social and economic and publishes the various figures of population in Tunisia.
- produced and publishes many Indice S and indicators of economic conjuncture and ensures the follow-up and economic situation analyzes. It works out the social accounting according to its various dimensions (main road and quarterly).
- organizes national statistical documentation by gathering the data produced by the structures of the national system of the statistics and ensures the international cooperation in the statistical field.
Organization
The INS is represented by 6 regional managements which cover the great areas of the country:- North-eastern
- covering the governorships of the Ariana, Ben Arous, Bizerte, Manouba, Nabeul, Tunis and Zaghouan (its seat is with Tunis) North-western
- covering the governorships of Béja, Jendouba, of the Kef and Siliana (its seat is with Béja)
- Center-is covering the governorships of Mahdia, Monastir, Sfax and Sousse (its seat is with Sousse)
- Center-ouest covering the governorships of Kairouan, Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid (its seat is with Kasserine) South-eastern
- covering the governorships of Gafsa, Kébili and Tozeur (its seat is with Gafsa) South-western
- covering the governorships of Gabès, Médenine and Tataouine (its seat is with Médenine)
The main mission of the regional representations is to carry out the operations of seizure and coding, data acquisition as well as the development of the regional statistics in their respective geographical areas.
