National institute of the scientific research
The National institute of the scientific research (INRS) is a Québécois university dedicated to research, of higher cycles and the training of researchers. It also has as a mandate the development of the basic research and applied in sectors considered to be priority for Quebec and this, while making sure the transfer of knowledge and technologies in the whole of the sectors where it works.
The INRS has its head office with Quebec. It is made of 4 components: INRS-ETE on sciences of water, the ground and the environment (Quebec); INRS-EMT on sciences of materials, energy and telecommunications (Varennes and Montreal), INRS-UCS, specialized in town planning, studies on the culture and social sciences (Montreal and Quebec) and INRS-Institute Armand Frappier, in biotechnologies and pharmaceutical research (Laval).
