National institute of the agronomic research
Created in 1946, the National institute of agronomic research ( INRA ) is a public corporation in scientific and technological matter placed under the double supervision of the ministry in charge of Research and the ministry in charge of Agriculture. This institute is composed of researchers, often resulting from the agronomic higher national schools (ENSA), engineers, technicians and the administrative ones.
Some of its missions:
- to better nourish the men and to preserve their health;
- to better manage the rural areas, the natural resources and the Biodiversity;
- to support employment by identifying the determinants of competitiveness;
- to diversify the products and to improve their competitiveness and their quality;
- to know living it and to develop the genius of the processes: structure and function of Genome S models, Génomique and Physiology of the organizations, technologies of transformation and conservation…

8.850 researchers, engineers, technicians and administrative, 1.200 scientific doctorands, 14 departments, 21 regional centres (according to the site of the INRA, 2005)

Since July 1st, 2006, the INRA Groupement d'Interet Economique lodges the seat of the publisher Quæ , made up in the form of a . It produces and diffuses the titles resulting from research of the INRA, CIRAD, the Cemagref and the Ifremer. It counts a thousand of titles to its catalog.
