National front progressist
The National front progressist (FNP) is a coalition of Syrian Political parties created in 1972. The Face joins together parties supporting the policy nationalist Arabic and socialist of the government baathist.
The face was created by the Syrian president , Hafez el-Assad to give the illusion of a system of multi-party system, according to the models East-German and Polish of the time. The charter of the party provides that at least 50% of the votes of the steering committee return in Baath. A certain number of seat at the Syrian Parliament, are reserved to the members of the FNP.
Since 1972, only the political parties members of the FNP are legal:

- Left the socialist Arab union
- Arab socialist Movement
- Left social Syrian nationalist
- Syrian Communist party (group of Youssouf Fayçal)
- Syrian Communist party (group of Khalid Bakdash)
- Left the socialist union
- Unionistic social democrats
