National forest of Chateauroux

The National forest of Chateauroux is managed by the National office of Forests (ONF), in France. It is made up of oaks (the 5 200 hectares of best the Chêne S of France).

Plants

The oak produces amongst other things wood of great quality used in Menuiserie and cooperage. Some of the high-class wines of Bordeaux age in the barrels of oaks of this forest. Various types of plants are indexed such as the sessile Chêne, the Chêne stalk, the Hêtre, the Charme, the Sorbier, the common maple, the Fougère eagle, the Anémone Sylvie and of course the Muguet of May.

Fauna

This forest shelters many wild animals. Largest is the Cerf Elaphe, whose slab takes place in September and October of each year. The other animals are the Muskrat, the Ragondin, the common Lièvre, the Wild rabbit, the Putois, the Martre, the Fouine, the Belette.

Ornithology

In the national forest of Chateauroux, one finds: the Rook, the Carrion crow, the Black and white chatter box, the Pheasant common, the gray partridges and red partridges, the Geai of the oaks, the Wood pigeon, the starling, etc

At the edge of the rivers, one also finds the Canard mallard, the Foulque macroule, the hen of water, the Fuligule pochard, the Sarcelle of winter, the crested Vanneau, the Bécassine of the marshes, etc as well as the birds of passage: the Woodcock of wood, the Ruail of the corns, the thrushes drain, thrushes litornes, thrushes mauvis, the black Merle, the turtle-doves of wood and Turkish turtle-doves, the Skylark, etc
