National control of the tobaccos and the matches

The national Governed of the tobaccos and the matches (RNTA) is a State enterprise Tunisia not having the Monopole for the manufacture and the marketing of the Tabac and the Allumette S in Tunisia but also for the charts to play and for the powder of Chasse.

Created in 1891 under the French protectorate, it becomes governed national in 1964. It amalgamates a few years ago with the Manufacture of the tobaccos of Kairouan (MTK) created in 1981.

It represents one of the more Tunisian large companies and directly employs 3000 worker and indirectly 22.000 people, in particular in the two factories of Tunis and that of Kairouan like in the head offices of the 2 entities.

It is associated with the sector of Tunisian tabaculture, buying the Récolte of more than 9000 tabaculteurs of the areas of the north of the country (in particular of the Gouvernorat S of Jendouba, Béja, Bizerte and Nabeul), that is to say 3048 tons produced on a Superficie of 2240 Hectare S (2005). It produces 3 types of tobaccos: dark tobacco (66%), clear tobacco (26%) and snuff (8%).

It in addition manufactures 424 million packages of Cigarette S and supplies 11.000 outputting on the national territory.
