The National company of the railroads of Congo (or SNCC ) is a state enterprise of the Democratic republic of Congo, activates primarily in the east and the south of the country. She is based with Lubumbashi with the Katanga. She is of course active in the exploitation of Railroad, but also in the river transport and road and the exploitation of ports.

History

  • 1902 : creation of the Railroad company of Katanga (CFK)
  • 1906: constitution of the Company of the railroad of low-Congo in Katanga (BCK)
  • 1911: connection of the network with the Atlantic Ocean by the Railroad of Benguela
  • 1927: creation of the Company of railroad Léopoldville-Katanga-Dilolo (LKD)
  • 1952: fusion of the LKD and the CFK to constitute the Railroad company of Katanga-Dilolo-Léopolville (KDL)
  • 1961: subdivision of the BCK in Old company BCK of right Belgian and in New company BCK of Congolese right.
  • 1970 : resumption of all the activities of the New BCK by Congolese Company KDL become Railroad company Kinshasa-Dilolo-Lubumbashi.
  • 1974 : fusion of the Companies of railroads KDL, CFL, (Congolese Office of the railroads of the Big lakes), CVZ (Secondary lines of Zaire), CFMK (Railroad Matadi-Kinshasa) and CFM (Railroad of Mayombe) in National company of the railroads Zairean (SNCZ)
  • 1991: dissolution of the SNCZ, creation of SNCZ/Holding and subsidiary companies OCS (Office of the railroads of the South), SFE (Company of the railroads of the East) and CFU (Office of the railroads of Uélés).
  • 1995 : in November 1995, dissolution of SNCZ/Holding and its subsidiary companies and signature of a master agreement yielding the exploitation of the railroads to a privately held company called Sizarail, which was dissolved in 1997.
  • 1997: resumption of all the activities by the SNCC

  • river system of Kindu to Ubundu (310 kilometers) and of Kongolo to Malemba-Nkulu (390 kilometers).
