National company of horticulture of France

The national company of Horticulture of France (SNHF) is located at 84, rue de Grenelle, in the 7° Arrondissement of Paris, it includes/understands sections sets of themes specialized in Horticulture which organize conferences, voyages sets of themes and visits of Jardin S, exchanges of Plante S, contests and demonstrations horticultural.

Creation

The SNHF was created the June 11th 1827 by impassioned which wished to exchange their experiments, to share their successes, to acclimatize exotic species in particular by Héricart de Thury. The SNHF exists still nowadays and is more active than ever. In 2006, it celebrates its 151 years recognized association of public utility.

Statutes

It is a Association law 1901, Reconnue public utility by the decree of the August 11th 1855. It had prestigious presidents like Héricart de Thury, the duke of Morny, the Payen chemist… Among these famous members: the painter Louise Abbéma, the Vavin painter.

Exposures

The first exposure of table " the Irises " of Van Gogh in its buildings in 1889 took place. Toulouse-Lautrec also exposed in these walls. The SNHF indeed had a room, the Room of the Horticulture, where it organized exposures. It continues to rent this room.

Missions

Its missions are: to contribute to the promotion of the Horticulture and the art of the Garden like to the valorization of the actions in favor of the conservation and the protection of the horticultural inheritance.

These missions lead it to take part, in France like abroad, with the transmission of a better knowledge of the Horticulture and Biodiversité, in particular through the actions of its sections. Those are specialized with technical, scientific or cultural objectives.

It includes a scientific advice which was given for mission of joining together, on topics of topicality, the various actors of the Horticulture. It organizes each year a day-debate making it possible to present the technological developments of knowledge and.

Objectives and means

Association wants to be a hyphen between amateurs and professionals. It has a strong regional presence by the means of its Federator Committee which represents the adherent associations and companies. It is the meeting of impassioned gardeners and professionals wanting to take part together in the valorization of all the horticultural die.

Information center

Its information center has very old works (consultation on go and with conditions). It holds one of the last fruit collections moulded of the 19th century.

It exposed this collection in 2005 to the Field of Courson. The SNHF also publishes a review: " Gardens of France" 100% plants and gardens which wants to be bulletin of connection of the members of association.

Adherent companies

The SNHF brings together many members indeed and federates in parallel more than 220 companies of Horticulture and associations of all the France.
