National college of business of Rouen

The National college of business (ESC) of Rouen is an university of trade and management located at Mount-Saint-Aignan, near Rouen. The School is carries-étandard it Groupe ESC Rouen, which gathers in particular 4 schools, a MBA, 7 Mastères Spécialisés, and 2 MSc. The ESC Rouen proposes training programs varied for the students and the executives.

The ESC Rouen obtained the European accreditation EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) in April 2002. This label is extended besides to the entire group in 2005. In addition, the rank of Master is conferred on its graduates.

Lastly, the ESC Rouen is founding member of the Conférence of the Universities.

History

It is founded in 1871 by Jacques and Jules Siegfried, which makes of it the oldest business school of France, after the ESCP-EAP. The school is recognized by the State in 1895. It settles initially with 9 bis rue de l'Avalasse in Rouen, before moving in 1941 street of North. It is in 1965 that the school is established within the studied campus of Rouen, with Mount-Saint-Aignan. It is there always. In 1987, it creates jointly with the EDHEC, the ESC Rheims and the ICN the common bank of tests intended for the pupils of “Prépa HEC”: the bank Ecricome. Today, the bank of test is common to ESC Rouen , ESC Rheims, ESC Bordeaux, ESC Toulouse, ICN, Euromed, and the ESC Turn-Poitiers (ESCEM) as from 2008.

Approximately 9800 students passed by the ESC Rouen to date (of which an abroad working quarter), which does of it one of the most important networks the old ones of France.

Admission

The entry with the ESC Rouen supposes the success with a contest.

It there currently 4 access roads to the ESC Rouen. For each one of these ways, the written tests and the tests of languages are common to 6 schools: the ESC Rouen, of course, but also the ESC Rheims, the ESC Bordeaux, the ESC Toulouse, the ICN and Euromed.

the contest Ecricome, for the pupils of preparatory class Economic and commercial way S, E or T (“prépa HEC”), but also of Khâgne. It makes it possible to return in 1st year with the ESC Rouen. (270 places for the contest 2007)
the contest Springboard:

Tremplin 1 is intended to the titular students of a diploma of first cycle. It makes it possible to return in 1st year with the ESC Rouen. (40 places for the contest 2007)
Tremplin 2 is conceived for the students having validated at least three years of higher learning. One reaches then directly the 2nd year of the ESC Rouen. (85 places for the contest 2007)

Course

The ESC Rouen wants to be a school of management general practitioner, with an at the same time theoretical and practical teaching. The course thus counts a joint Base, during which all the matters related to management are taught, and a Specialization, that the student chooses according to his community project. The theoretical lesson is followed periods of in-company training.

The school testifies for a long time to a large opening towards the international one, since as of the Twenties of the Scandinavian students came in exchange with the ESC Rouen. Today, of many foreign students make at least part of their course to the ESC Rouen. Moreover, the students of the ESC Rouen must have validated at least an experiment abroad during their course, that it is in company or in one of the 127 universities partners of the School, in 36 different countries (figures of July 2007). The ESC Rouen appears besides in the trinity by the number of its international partners, which makes it possible all the students to have a place in uen university or foreign school

At the conclusion from the 3 or 4 years of studies (if the student carries out a long training course in company during a “year”), the students of the ESC Rouen obtain a Master in management and possibly a foreign diploma within the framework of the agreements of double-diploma (Universities partners: The USA, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Australia, GB).

Modernization of the Program University

The school engaged in a recasting of the program and proposes innovative formulas like the " Européen" course; who allows to carry out the part Master (two last years of school) at the same time in Rouen and in two other European universities. The training, also reformed, is articulated on a rate/rhythm which deprives neither of the international experiment, nor of Major (specialization). From now on, Catherine Plichon has the role of implementing, as of re-entry 2007/2008, a renewed PGE. Built around a differentiated pedagogy (combining course, put in situation, e-learning) and very open to international, this new program will aim to allow the students of the Program University of the ESC Rouen, classified 13th of best Masters in Management in Europe (Financial Times September 2007), to position on the best level on the international market of employment.

This new PGE of the ESC Rouen satisfied the European standards (operation by appropriations ECTS). It makes it possible moreover to personalize its academic course as of the 2nd year (choice of course)
