National center of the costume
The National center of the costume and scenography (CNCS), is a French museum, inaugurated on July 1st 2006 with Moulins by Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, Minister for the Culture and Transport, Pierre-Andre Périssol, mayor of the city, and Christian Lacroix, dressmaker and chairman of the board.
The establishment preserves and presents a prestigious collection of 10.000 Costume S of scene accompanied by their Accessoire S, deposited by three national establishments, the National library of France, the Comédie-Française and the national Opéra of Paris.
It was established in the old military barracks of the Villars District of Moulins, in the district of the Madeleine. Located on left bank To combine it, it faces the city and its historical quarters. The barracks was built at the 18th century and is classified historic building thanks to its splendid yellow and pink sandstone staircases.
To prevent that the costumes worsen, the exposures change every four months. They are conceived starting from the collections of the CNCS and external loans.
