The National alliance (in Italian, Alleanza nazionale , shortened in Year , according to the Italian usual typography) is a Political party Italy N of right-hand side, created in 1995, heir to the Italian Social movement.

Its current leader is Gianfranco Fini, ex-vice-president of the Council of Ministers and Foreign Minister who made him make a turn marked with the center-right of the political chessboard.

Its birth dates from the congress of Fiuggi, a thermal spa, in January 1995. YEAR succeeds then and replaces the Italian Social movement (MSI), created by Giorgio Almirante - which had taken part in the Italian Social republic of Benito Mussolini. In 10 years, YEAR operated a Net turn with the center-right, by disavowing in particular the Racisme, the Anti-sémitisme all while wanting to be the patriotic party par excellence, defending the values of unit Italy. Nevertheless, of nostalgic of the MSI, remain in its center (in particular the social Destra , social line). YEAR belongs to the delle Casa libertà (the Maison of freedoms, an alliance of parties also including/understanding Forza Italia).

After the first success with the legislative elections of 1996 (more than 15% of the votes cast), its results are more modest since. YEAR had into 2005 of 97 members of Parliament with the Chambre (elected into 2001,99), of 47 with the Sénat and 9 appointed with the the European Parliament. It obtains better results with the southern that in north, where it is often competed with by the Ligue of North, except with Bolzano where it represents the interests of the italophones.

At the time of the last significant elections (April 2006, Camera dei deputati), it obtained 72 Députés (- 27), that is to say approximately 12,5% of the votes (in coalition with the lists which supported Silvio Berlusconi).
