National League Football

The in National Football League (indicated by the nonofficial translation “National league of football” in French), shortened by its acronym NFL , is an association of professional teams of American football, active with the the United States. The NFL was created in 1920, initially under the name of in American Professional Football Association (APFA), before being renamed in National Football League in 1922. The NFL organizes each year a championship very followed in the world punctuated by an major event: the Super Bowl.

It is necessary to wait on April 30th, 1921 and a meeting of the league with Akron to see symbolically crowning Akron Pros champions of the inaugural season.

Following this meeting, the AFPA is reorganized: Thrope who spent more time on the grounds than to take in hand the organization is replaced by Joseph Carr. Carr former member of the Columbus Panhandles decides to move the seat of the league of Akron with Columbus and consequently occasion defines limits of “territory” for the players, deposits official texts on the league,… For the first time an official classification is planned to be establishes before the beginning of the competition. Calendar of the regular season

The regular season comprises 16 matches distributed over 17 weeks consecutive. Each team thus has a week of rest ( bye week ). Being given the low number of matches, all the franknesses cannot clash. Jim Thorpe, complete athlete American of the beginning of the 20th century was the first president of the in American Professional Football Association in 1920 whereas it evolved/moved with the Bulldogs de Canton.
