National Basketball League (the United States)

The National Basketball League was a professional league American of Basket-ball which existed of 1937 with 1949. On this date the league will amalgamate with being born the Basketball Association off America (3 years of existence), thus creating a new league: the National Basketball Association.

History

The league was creates by three important companies: General Electric, Firestone and Goodyear. The first season 13 teams existed already before the creation of the league. She wanted to be to gather the teams of small the city of the areas of the Big lakes and the corporative teams.

5 current teams of NBA have their dependant history with the NBL. 3d' between them joined BAA in 1948: the Mineapolis Lakers (from now on Los Angeles Lakers), the Strong Wayne Pistons (from now on Strait Pistons) and the Rochester Royals (from now on Sacramento Kings). Two other teams will join BAA in 1949: the Tri-Cities Blackhawks (gathering the towns of Moline, Rock'n'roll Island (Illinois) and Davenport (Iowa), become since the Atlanta Hawks) and the Syracuse Nationals (since the Philadelphia 76ers).

Another team still exists, first Champion NBL, the Akron Goodyear Wingfoots. Wingfoots had stopped their activities during the second world war, and were not included in fusion NBL/BAA. Nevertheless the team continued has to take part in competitions, today it takes part in the National Alliance off Basketball Leagues.

On the whole, 10 teams of the NBL joined the BBA (and thus the NBA). In addition to Lakers, Pistons, Royals, Blackhawks and Nationals, they are the Anderson Packers, the Denver Nuggets, the Indianapolis Jets, the Sheboygan Redskins and the Waterloo Hawks. Moreover one team had been creates in order to take part in the season 1949-1950 in NBL, the Indianapolis Olympians, this team will thus play finally the inaugural season of NBA.
