The National Assembly of Lebanon (or Lebanese Parliament ) (Arab: مجلسالنواب Majlis year-Nuwwab, House of Commons ) is the single legislative room with the Lebanon. The 128 deputies are elected every 4 years, with half of Chrétiens and half of Musulmans. In addition to ratifying the laws, they elect the president of the republic and vote confidence with the government.

Since the Agreement of Taef in 1989, the National Assembly must have Moslems as many as Christians, is 64 per religion. In spite of the lack of information concerning the religious demography of the country (last census in the Thirties), to make the distinction between different the confessions, there exist quotas for 4 of the 5 Moslem confessions and 6 of the 12 Christian confessions (there exists a place for the other Christians). The Juifs Lebanese are not represented. Lebanon is divided into 5 muhafazat.
The president of the Parliament is, according to the Lebanese constitution, obligatorily Shiite. He is elected for 4 years. The current president is Nabih Berri. The president of the Parliament has a capacity stronger than in other countries, to be able to adjust the capacity between the three dominant confessions: Maronite (President), Sunnite (Prime Minister) and Shiite (President of the Parliament).
