Nathan Birnbaum

Nathan Birnbaum ( נתןבירנבוים ) is a thinker and a poet. It is one of the pioneers of the movement Sioniste.

It is him, which for the first time, employs the word of " sionisme". Birnbaum is born with Vienna in 1864. In 1882, it publishes a first article denouncing the assimilation rigorously. It is one of the founders of the movement studied Kadima.

In 1885, Nathan Birnbaum publishes the first newspaper national Zionist, encouraging adhesion with the ideal Zionist and the installation in Ground of Israel. With the appearance of Herzl, it joined the rows of the movement Zionist and becomes one of the main actors of the first Congrès Zionist, in 1897. In 1898, it moves away from the Zionism, defends the Nationalisme in Diaspora and poses the Yiddish as bases cultural and national language of the People Juif. It joined the Jewish religious orthodoxe currents thereafter, and counts among the founders of the political party Agoudat Israel, of which he becomes the leader. With the rise of the Nazi S with the capacity in Germany, he emigrates with the Netherlands where he dies in 1937.
