Natalia Narychkina

Natalia Illovna Narychkina (September 1st 1651 - February 4th 1694), woman of Alexis I {{er}}, was Tsarina of Russia of 1671 with 1676. It is the mother of Pierre Large the.

Alexis married it the 1671. His first wife, Maria Miloslavski, had given him three surviving children: the futures Fédor III and Ivan V, like Sophia Alexeievna, which was going to become regent at the time of the reign of his/her brothers.

When Natalia moves in with the the Kremlin, it made there enter an atmosphere of cheerfulness and youth which he had seldom known. It is it, inter alia, which founds the first public theater of Russia. It makes play plays with the palate, which Alexis had prohibited until now.

Its family, the Narychkine, from the boyards of minor nobility, benefit from the occasion to seize the stations - keys the court, thus relegating Miloslavski to the background.

The June 9th 1672, Natalia gives rise to his/her only son, Pierre. It will be also the mother of two girls, Fédora and Natalia.

When Alexis Ier dies, in 1676, it is Fédor, oldest son of his first wife, who succeeds to him. The roles are then reversed; Miloslavski return in force and Narychkine is exiled. Natalia must leave the court and is relegated with his/her children to the monastery of Préobajenskoié, close to Moscow.

Fédor III dies in its turn the May 7th 1682. His/her young brother, Ivan, which should normally inherit the crown, is young a sixteen year old boy, with the spirit disturbed and unable to control. His/her half-brother, Pierre, are robust but is only ten years old. A Zemski sobor is convened and votes quasi unanimously for Pierre. Natalia is proclaimed regent.

Sophia Alexeievna, sister of Ivan, do not hear it thus. It organizes a revolt of the Streltsy, which hate Narychkine for a long time. They manage to enter to the Kremlin and massacre many boyards, in favor of Pierre, including two brothers of Natalia . Sophia, famous regent, proclaims a dyarchie, a joint reign of Pierre Ier and of Ivan V. However, it is it which absolutely directs Russia until in 1689.

During all these years, Pierre and Natalia live in Préobajenskoié and in Kolomenskoié and do not take any share with the government. In 1689, the ex-tsarina chooses a wife for her son in the person of Eudoxie Lopoukhina, girl of small a nobliau.

The same year, Pierre, who had wind of a plot to assassinate it, court in Moscow and Sophia shift. Not being ready to control, it gives up the capacity with his mother. This one is however not regarded as an eagle of government. Those which knew it grant to say that it was not very intelligent, over-devout and frivolous, and that it is hardly liked population. It leaves the capacity with its family and the Duma of the boyards which, taking the opposite course to the decisions of Sophia, undertake a policy characterized by its hostile attitude the abroads. The censure of the correspondences abroad is reinforced and the entries in Russia are limited.

When Natalia dies, in 1694, Pierre the Large one cries his mother but however gives up his policy by taking again the projects of Sophia to open the country in the Occident.
