Nassogne is a common French-speaking of Belgium located in Walloon region in the Province of Luxembourg.

History

The village of Nassogne is one of the multiple doors of the Ardenne. The entity is stretched between ground of schist and sandstone ground, between hills, plates and forests, of the edge of Famenne (Marche) towards of the Ardennes wood (Saint-Hubert). Thus, when it snows in Nassogne, it rains in Forrière and in the surroundings. The whole of common has a rural economy, round towards the exploitation of the forests (sylviculture, sawmills, in the past clog factories), towards the breeding (sheep, cows, a butchery even started again the breeding of the pigs in the open air, it called it " The pig of the meadows of Ardenne"), agriculture and tourism. One hears of Nassogne since year 600 and it would owe its name with a small fountain (Nassognia). At that time, a Scottish monk of the name of Monon came évangéliser the area. Towards 687, Pip of Herstal, known as the Brief, ordered the church of the village in Collégiale.

Bandage, a village of the current entity, will be victim of a massacre during the Bataille of the Ardennes. Indeed, 34 young men will be shot there on December 24th, 1944.
