Nassau (Lahn)

Nassau year der Lahn is a city of the Land of the Rhineland-Palatinat, which is in the valley of the Lahn between Bad Ems and Limburg year der Lahn.

History

The origin of the city and the Maison of Nassau goes back to year 915, probably founded by a brother of the emperor Conrad I {{er}}. The castle was built in 1125, and in 1160 the county took the name of the city. Between 1292 and 1298, one of the counts, Adolphe de Nassau, reached even imperial dignity. Then, in 1515, one of its descendants, Henri III, count de Nassau and of Bréda, brother of Guillaume I {{er}} the Rich person, married in second weddings Claude of Trawl-net, princess of Orange, of which it had a son, Rene de Chalon, which died without child in 1544. The cousin of this last, Guillaume Silent the, inherited the field then. Thus was born the Maison from Orange-Nassau with the fabulous destiny! Consequently, the county of Nassau was set up in duchy.

Before its annexation in Prussia, this duchy had a voice shared with the duchy of Brunswick to the ordinary diet S and two for him only at the general meeting.
