Naso

The Naso are a group Indigène north of the Panama, more precisely in the west of the province of Bocas del Toro, on a zone of 1.300 km ² which includes/understands the rivers Teribe and San San, with approximately 3.500 inhabitants. It is a question of the only indigenous group to have a monarchy recognized in America.
Policy
The nasos are controlled by a king. According to the tradition, only a man can reach for this reason, and this for the life. When the king died, the title returns to his/her oldest brother. When there is not or more brothers, it is the oldest son who becomes king, after having had the title of prince. If ever there is nobody to succeed a king, all the married men of the village meet to choose new.However, currently, the government is a mixture of Constitutional monarchy and hereditary. The king is selected during a vote, and can be indifferently a man or a woman, but must belong to the Santana family, dynasty which started to control in second half of the twentieth century.
The royal de luxe hotel is in Seiyik, the capital of the area. One finds there in addition to the king the general advice, which deals of the administration and justice, the king having a role mainly ceremonial.

Culture
Naso live Agriculture and fishing. They speak the Teribe and, for the majority, the Spanish . Certains Naso is Catholique S, but traditionally, Naso venerate Sbö, which they regards as the supreme god and the creator of the universe. They also venerate the Teribe river.The families have a nuclear structure monogamic, although Naso do not have rites defined for the Mariage.
