Nasard

The Nasard (or Nazard ) is an organ stop of the family of the changes.

Etymology: of nose, probably because its use gives a more nasal sound to the mixture of plays.

Description

Nasard is obligatorily a basic play flute (either a bumblebee, or a flute with chimney, or an open flute) giving the third Harmonique of fundamental of the set of 8 feet. Its height is of 2 2/3 feet.

It is thus about a play transposing instrument which gives the fifth of the higher octave. Thus, when one inserts the key corresponding to Do1, Nasard makes hear Sol2.

It is the most widespread change: it appears as well in the provision of the organ old as modern.

Use

The nasard enters traditionally the composition of the little game of third to the Frenchwoman: Bumblebee 8, Prestant, Nasard, Third Quad of Nasard, .

It always gets busy mixes some and makes it possible to enrich the funds in harmonic.

If the play speaks one or two lower octaves, it then bears the name of Gros Nasard or Grosse Fifth.

Nasard should not be confused with the Quinte, the latter being always built with pipes of Principaux.
