Narsil

In the universe of fiction of J.R.R. Tolkien, Narsil is the sword of the king Elendil, who directs the faithful ones and arrives on the Ground of the Medium to the Second Age to avoid the immersion of the island of Númenor. It is later known under the name of Andúril.

The sword is forged during the First Age by the dwarf Telchar of Nogrod, thus returning it relationship with Angrist, sword celebrates with which was cut a Silmaril of the crown of Morgoth. The sword, before leading in the hands of Elendil, is given by Telchar to Curufin, one of wire of Fëanor, to which Angrist was also given. It is then given to Maglor, which then bequeaths it to Elros.

During the Second Age, Narsil is found on the island of Númenor, with the hands of Elros, the first Kings de Númenor, which is itself downward of Eärendil as well as several other lords among the Elfes and the Edain. Although no reference to Narsil is made during this period, the sword ends in the hands of Elendil, a downward distance of Elros, towards the end of the Second Age.

Elendil uses Narsil during the Barad-hard seat of , but Sauron kills Elendil and the sword breaks into two when it falls. The oldest son of Elendil, Isildur, then takes the stub of the sword of his father and the Single Anneau of the hand of Sauron uses it to cut. Isildur brings back the sections of Narsil at his place. Few before death Isildur during the second year Third Age in the Disaster Fields Iris, the sections of Narsil is sent in safety by Estelmo, the rider of the oldest son of Isildur, Elendur. They are then taken along to Fondcombe, where the son junior by Isildur, Valandil, resides temporarily.

The sections of Narsil were integral part of the heritage of the line of the Kings of Arnor, and once the Kingdom of destroyed North they continued to belong to the heritage of the Rôdeurs of North. The sword was not reforged before the Guerre of the Ring, towards the end of the Third Age.

In 3019 of the Third Age, Narsil was reforged in Fondcombe and was re-elected to be known under the name of Andúril, name Sindarin which means Flamme of the West , and was carried by Aragorn Elessar II. He undertook the voyage with his sword as a member of the Communauté of the Ring, and the sword is mentioned on several occasions during the history as a the Sword which was broken or the reforged Sword .

Boromir, the son and heir to the Intendant of Gondor, went to Fondcombe in time to attend the Conseil of Elrond because of the prophetic dream of his/her brother, Faramir, which indicated to seek the Sword which was broken. Besides Aragorn uses the sword to establish its claims with the throne of the Gondor, as well as the credibility of its descent of Isildur itself.

In these films, Narsil breaks in several pieces (and not in two). The fragments of Narsil are not carried permanently by Aragorn, but are exposed to Fondcombe (Aragorn having another sword, whole that there).
