Napoleon island

The locality Île Napoleon is divided between the towns of Sausheim, Illzach and Rixheim.

With the junction of the channel of the Rhone in the Rhine (formerly Napoleon channel) towards Kembs-Niffer on a side (channel of Huningue), Strasbourg of the other, and an old site of paper mill of Zuber-Rieder & Co which builds the factory of the Island Napoleon, the factory of the Pines, at the edge of banks of the channel of the Rhone in the Rhine with Sausheim. An island had been created with the river crossroads, it was eliminated during creation of the port in 1968.

It is with dimensions that PSA Peugeot Citroen established its large Alsatian factory in the town of Sausheim, not far one finds there the Center Road Autoport South-Alsace and Douanier. A great shopping mall was built on Illzach and Sausheim, as well as a hotel zone, and many companies.

A inter-commune structure bears the same name, community of communes of the Island Napoleon (CCIN) .
