Napoleon Lajoie (September 5th, 1874 - February 7th, 1959) was an American player of baseball, of Canadian origin , he was born with Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He was the first champion of the Moyenne to the stick in 1901, striking 0,426. This average remains the best average of the history of the major leagues.
Career
Lajoie gained five times the title of the best average to the stick. In 1910, it trailed Ty Cobb for the best average. However, Lajoie struck 7 sure Coups in its two left finales. To avoid the controversy, all the two players were elected “champion of the average to the stick”.
