Nap
The nap indicates a time of Repos taken in the middle of the day, generally after the Repas of midday. Its practice differs according to the cultures, the climate and the individuals.
It is important to distinguish Nap flash (in English) which generally lasts between 10 and 30 minutes, and allows to regain concentration and energy, of the nap more generally described in this article.
The nap is usually practiced in the hot countries, at the hottest hours when the Sun is with the zenith: the Chaleur does not allow a very physical activity and work is given to the fresher hours. In the more cold countries, the nap is less current. The infants often need such a moment of rest, at least in the form of a “calm time” organized in the reception facilities (schools, recreational centres or of holidays).
For the adults, in Occident, the nap is often seen like a “luxury”, a time stolen at the working time or other activities. At the time of the nap, it is possible to lengthen simply or to sleep frankly. Time varies according to the people, ten minutes to several hours.
Interest
The nap has beneficial effects on health. There would be, for example a significant reduction of almost a third of mortality due to the cardiovascular diseases among followers of this practice. These beneficial effects however are discussed since other studies conclude with an increase of 50% from the risk from heart attack at the people practitioner regularly from the naps. Certain employers included/understood the interest - in term of productivity, inter alia - and arrange well besides of it a space for this purpose for those which wish it.A good nap must be done with calm and in the black.
Origin of the name
The word nap comes from Spanish siesta , and this one of Latin sexta who means “the sixth of the day”.
