Nanteuil-the-Meaux
Nanteuil-the-Meaux is a common French, located in the department of Seine-et-Marne and the area Île-de-France.
Its inhabitants is called Nanteuillais.
Geography
The commune is served from the station of Meaux by the bus. The inhabitants are called Nanteuillais. The aqueduct of Dhuis and the Marne cross the commune.
History
The city draws its name of the Celtic root nant , the valley. the , formerly lez , means “close to”, close to the town of Meaux. At the 7th century, a text indicates the locality under the name of Nantolialinsis .The Romans remained there. The way of Crécy, in the past “way of the Men-at-arms”, separating Nanteuil de Mareuil points out the great Roman way open by Agrippa, lieutenant de César, to bring back of England tin, Boulogne-sur-Mer in Rome. On the place of the Large Valley, a large stone, a menhir probably, saw old common one to slice it the agrarian disagreements. It was called the “stone of science”.
Nanteuil would have also seen being born a King. In 1550, at the time of one of its displacements in Heap-the-Meaux, royal residence, Catherine de Médicis was taken pains and put at the world the future Charles IX, with the " Firm of Reine" , with the site of the current Protestant presbytery, the dires of the Tradition.
